# Change your authentication method

Each time you [sign in to Cintra People](/docs/sign-in-to-cintra-people), you must authenticate via an authenticator app or SMS. To change how you do this:

1. Log in to Cintra People.
2. Click your name at the top-right of the screen.

1. Click **Authentication preferences**.

1. Just as you logged in for the first time, either:
  - In the **Authenticator App** tab, scan the QR code, then enter the six-digit code.
  - In the **SMS** tab, enter your mobile phone number (or if it is already there, check it is correct).
2. Click **Save Preferences**.

The next time you log into Cintra People, you will be asked to use the new authentication method you chose.
