# Overview of HR functionality

This article gives you a high-level overview of what Cintra People HR does and where to start, whether you're completely new to Cintra People, or if you have a payroll background.

### What does the HR system do?

Cintra People HR manages everything about your employees beyond payroll. This includes:

**Employee records and organisation.** Keep all employee information in one place. Organise employees into teams, departments, and locations. Track job history, qualifications, and documents. See [Employees](/integrated/docs/employee-management).

**Leave and absence.** Manage holiday requests, sickness absence, and other types of leave. Set up approval workflows and track absence patterns. See [Leave](/integrated/docs/time-off).
