# How do I count records?

In Cintra iQ, you are able to count the number of records for one or more filters, before the filter(s) are applied to the navigator. You can use this tool as a method of testing the filter(s) before you leave the Record Filters window, as counting the records may indicate whether you have selected the right fields and used the correct operators.

1. Go to: Definitions > Filters. The **Record Filters window** appears.
2. Select the desired filter in the **Definitions** pane.
3. Click the **Count...** button. The **Record Filter Count** window appears with the highlighted filter counted.

> **Note:** For reporting purposes, click the Count All button to count the records in all the filters in the window.
