Alerts are triggered automatically based on the settings configured on each category. By adjusting these settings, you can control which alerts users, approvers, and Finance see when an expense is raised or reviewed.
The following category settings trigger alerts:

Setting | Alert triggered |

Compulsory Description | Warns the user that a description is required |
Set Spend Limit | Warns the user or blocks submission if the spend limit is exceeded |
No Receipt Warning | Warns the user that a receipt is required |
Show VAT Rates | Flags VAT mismatches or missing VAT amounts |
Enable Costing (Project, Task) | Flags missing or invalid project and task codes |
Tags | Flags invalid or missing tag values |
