Scratch payslips

Prev Next

Scratch payslips let you see every payslip affected by a correction, and compare "before" and "after" figures side-by-side. This is very useful when explaining unexpected values to an employee on their payslip.

At a glance

Scratch payslips show before/after net pay per period, which work well for demonstrating the effect of single corrections. However, you should avoid using them if corrections overlap, as multiple corrections can be harder to explain to an employee.

In more detail…

  1. Open View Scratch Payslips for the employee in question.

  2. You'll see a list of periods with corrections (e.g. period 2, period 3), along with when the last correction occurred.

  3. Select a period to compare the original net pay against the corrected figure, and see the net pay difference that will show on the current payslip.

  4. Use this to walk an employee through exactly what changed and why.

FAQs

When should I avoid scratch payslips?

When there's more than one overlapping correction. The view becomes confusing rather than helpful.

Can I share scratch payslips with a customer?

Yes, they can be downloaded and used to show an employee what happened, but only when the correction is straightforward.
