Parental payments (9 Oct 2026)

Prev Next

Maternity, paternity and adoption pay can now be managed directly in Cintra People Payroll. SaaS customers (who process their own payroll) can review and update an employee's claims, and Source customers (who have their payroll managed by a bureau) can see the same information.

What's new?

A new Parental payments tab on the employee record, with a sub-tab for each type of pay: Maternity pay, Paternity pay and Adoption pay.

Claims at a glance

  • Every claim an employee holds, newest first, with the leave dates, pay period, weeks and amount paid, and how much you can reclaim from HMRC.

Leave dates

  • The dates that decide when statutory pay is paid, such as the expected date of birth, when evidence was received, or when an adopted child was matched and placed.

  • Keep-in-touch days recorded during maternity and adoption leave.

  • Clear messages if a date falls outside HMRC's rules, for example paternity leave starting before the birth.

Occupational pay

  • Apply your occupational (enhanced) pay scheme, and see the statutory and occupational pay for every week of the leave.

  • Override a week's rate, for example after a pay change, and apply it to the remaining weeks.

  • A week-by-week payment schedule that you can save as a PDF for the employee.

Statutory pay

  • A summary of the statutory pay due, paid and recoverable, with every week of the pay period listed.

  • Override individual weeks, with a reason, and export the weeks to a spreadsheet.

  • See how average weekly earnings were worked out, and override them if needed.

  • Record why statutory pay can't be paid, using HMRC's exclusion reasons.

  • See what each payroll period has paid, and change the date statutory pay is paid up to, for example when an employee leaves.

On Source (outsourced) payrolls, parental payment claims are view-only. That's because Cintra's payroll service team manages them as part of the service. It doesn't change what you can see.

Key benefits

  • Everything in one place. Leave dates, occupational pay and statutory pay for every maternity, paternity and adoption claim are on the employee record, so you can check or update them without leaving Cintra People.

  • Know exactly what an employee will be paid. Week-by-week statutory and occupational pay, plus a schedule you can save as a PDF, make it easy to answer questions and give employees a clear record.

  • See how every figure was reached. Average weekly earnings, the earnings period and any exclusions are shown alongside the calculation.

  • Fewer mistakes. Dates are checked against HMRC's rules as you enter them, with a clear message if something isn't right.
